Telling Stories With Dance

(This video is created in windows media)

We just got back from Hawaii, and was interested in learning the fact that for centuries the Hawaiian's had no written language.  How did they communicate?  Through stories told by family members and by dance.

Here is a video of a hula dancer on a boat trip we took down the river to the fern grotto in Kauai.  Notice the movement of the hands with the song.  Each movement is a symbol to communicate her story.

This is an example of how storytelling is a part of our life and passing our stories from generation to generation a part of family history.  If the Hawaiian's see the importance of passing these stories from generation to generation, shouldn't you find a way to do this for your family?  Creating a Family History Video is a great way to share your family stories.

This just goes to prove, everyone does have a story.
